Importer Security Filing checklist

Gather the information your broker or filing agent may need for an ISF-10 before your cargo sails.

This checklist is not an ISF filing. Your filing agent must transmit the required information to CBP. Confirm the correct filing type, deadlines, and details for your shipment with your broker.

Before loading at the foreign port

For the usual ISF-10, CBP requires these eight elements no later than 24 hours before loading. Exceptions apply; ask your filing agent about your shipment.

Container details

Provide these as early as possible, generally no later than 24 hours before arrival at a U.S. port. For a voyage shorter than 24 hours, the rule specifies a different deadline: upon loading. Confirm timing with your filing agent.

Before you hand this to your broker

This checklist covers the ten importer elements for goods intended to enter the United States or an FTZ. Transit cargo may use a different filing. The carrier has separate requirements. The boxes are a temporary browser aid: they do not save, send or verify your information, and will reset when the page reloads.

For each good, the regulation links manufacturer or supplier, country of origin, and HTSUS number at the line-item level. Your agent can confirm the bill-of-lading detail and any exceptions.
